Senior Interior Designer
Description

Overall Responsibilities

Generate and develop innovative design solutions on multiple interior design projects simultaneously including higher education, civic, government, and cultural projects. Provide motivation, mentorship, and design leadership to the interior design team through all stages of programming, concept, design, and documentation and take initiative to drive great design with only intermittent oversight and direction. Support the firm culture of design excellence within teams and organize firmwide interior design efforts and client presentations.

Design Leadership

  • Originate innovative high-level design solutions to complex problems and coordinate with the larger project teams through the development and presentation of these ideas.
  • Work simultaneously on multiple projects, including large, complex projects.
  • Work closely with the Interiors Principal to be a visible face of the interiors practice firmwide and support internal business development efforts.
  • Operate with a service-focused mindset with external clients and colleagues. Dedicated to meeting client requirements, expectations, and budget.
  • Work closely with Project Architects to ensure that construction documents are consistent with design intent and meet the firm’s BIM standards.
  • Commitment to advance the firm’s stance in the use of ethical and highly sustainable materials.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Understanding of project finances and appropriate balancing of scope, project tasks, and fee. including assistance in the staffing of each project.
  • Mentor junior interior design staff to support their development and growth.
  • Contribute to proposal development to win new work.
  • Continually seek self-growth in firm practice areas.
  • Ability, willingness, and enthusiasm to work as part of a team beyond your area of expertise.
  • Stay abreast of trends and development in the areas of specific project types.
  • Active participation in firmwide initiatives, external professional organizations, and industry social functions.
Requirements
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the design and documentation of interiors projects
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Interior Design
  • NCIDQ Certification with strong grasp of ADA and life safety requirements
  • LEED, WELL, or other Sustainability accreditation
  • Diverse portfolio of project types, including civic/government and higher-education work
  • Substantial experience in interior design, documentation and detailing on a wide variety of project types
  • Thorough understanding of highly sustainable practices and industry standards
  • Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Expert knowledge of FF&E, color, and materials
  • Expert knowledge of furniture systems and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in relevant computer software:
  • Building Information Modeling: Revit; including firm grasp of collaborative tools such as R360
  • Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Enscape and AutoCAD a plus
