Position Overview

The Senior Technical/Project Architect will work with the Principal-in-Charge and the Senior Design Architect in the technical development of architectural projects from concepts to construction documents, including the selection and integration of systems, technology, and materials. The ideal candidate will have well developed client skills and the ability to manage an internal team and external consultants. The Senior Technical/Project Architect may also lead multiple smaller assignments at a time, while serving as a technical resource for other projects and staff within the Baltimore, MD or Washington D.C. office.


  • Focus on construction documents, technical specifications and construction administration of project delivery.
  • Lead project delivery team.
  • Perform quality control and assurance at each stage of every project.
  • Select, evaluate, and implement procedures and techniques used on projects.
  • Analysis and documentation of code requirements.
  • Assist in developing project man-hours and planning schedule for various phases of the project.
  • Provide technical leadership within a team environment, in collaboration with peers while mentoring junior staff.
  • Contribute to the culture of firm-wide research and exploration in the areas of building technology.

  • Bachelors of Architecture or Masters of Architecture (accredited degree program required).
  • Architectural license required. LEED accreditation required within 12 months.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the technical development of projects including systems integration, detailing, and construction administration.
  • Prior experience working in higher education projects construction preferred.
  • Knowledge of Washington, D.C. permit process is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex situations with strong problem solving skills.
  • Experience balancing project budgets and value engineering demands.
  • Experience managing and supervising high performance team a must.
  • Ability to travel to client sites and business offices as needed.
  • Proficient in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
