NewFields is seeking a Senior/Project Environmental or Civil Engineer to join our hardworking and innovative team of scientists and engineers to conduct engineering analyses and field investigations, and provide oversight of construction management duties for multiple projects The successful candidate will play a lead role in building new client relationships, enhancing existing client relationships, planning and scoping new projects, managing and mentoring staff, and ensuring project work is executed with the highest standards.


As part of the NewFields Sediment Management & Marine Sciences group, this position will collaborate closely with the rest of our science and engineering team, as well as our 17 other NewFields office locations. The successful candidate will be ready to tackle complex issues, manage and prioritize multiple tasks, while maintaining a positive attitude and an eye towards the future of the business.

Our Rockland, MA office is south of the Boston and convenient to Plymouth, MA and Cape Cod. 


Our Edmonds, WA office is is south of Seattle and located in scenic Downtown Edmonds, close to the ferry terminal and Brackett's Landing Beach Park.



Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of study such as chemistry, engineering, construction management. Candidate must also already have achieved Professional Engineer (P.E.) status.
Experience: minimum of 5-10 years experience in the disciplines of architecture, engineering, construction management. 

  • Experience and specific knowledge/experience with CERLCA remediation projects. 
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in a service-intensive, deadline driven environment.
  • Experience performing construction oversight of multiple contractors while adhering to health and safety plans and protocols.


Software: Proficiency with MS Word/Excel/Access, statistical and GIS software.  Experience with Autodesk® Civil 3D® is preferred. Working knowledge of various types of numerical modeling software is advantageous.  
Required Travel: Travel requirements may include remote site visits and assignments to project and client locations in the United States and Canada and other locations. The estimated level of travel can be up to 50 percent.
Physical Demands: Position requires sitting/standing for long periods of time, extended hours working on a computer and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments can be in a variety of environments and cultures, including difficult and diverse climates. During field assignments, standing, squatting, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds may be required over prolonged periods of time.

   

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support existing client projects, develop, and grow NewFields services to existing and new clients.
  • The individual should have experience marketing and developing new clients.
  • The position may include extended field assignments as construction manager/oversight
  • Responsible for communications within the organization pertaining to proposals, project updates, changes in scope, identification of potential risks & unexpected challenges. 
  • Write proposals in collaboration with other internal stakeholders
  • Interpret engineering and environmental data to develop conclusions and/or achieve established objectives.
  • Onboarding of project personnel & consultants. 
  • Management of assigned personnel & subcontractors.
  • Mentor NewFields junior staff and project site personnel on construction management procedures and skills.
