Senior Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting

The Sr. Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting will support critical Accounting functions at CDC Small Business Finance including, but not limited to Audit, Tax, Financial Reporting, Budget and Forecast. These tasks will include production and analysis of reports, schedules and/or datasets in a timely and accurate manner. The position will report to the Controller.

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounting, Audit and Tax: 

- Support monthly financial reporting including but not limited to preparing various schedules: general ledger trial balance, account reconciliation status and variance analysis.

- Prepare monthly financial statements for consolidated CDC and each subsidiary. Includes report generation and analysis. 

- Work with other members of the finance team to determine their companies expected grants and spending needs for remaining months in the year.

- Prepare audit schedules as assigned.

- Support Audit Project Management to ensure the timely completion of prepared by client (PBC) documents and any follow up requests. Assume the responsibility of compiling and maintaining, the daily open items list from the auditors and assign items to the Finance team. 

- Prepare annual tax schedules utilizing final audit data (i.e. functional expenses, highest paid vendor list, detailed summary of realized and unrealized gains/losses, and tax liability on fringe benefits).

Budget and Forecasting:

- Support annual budget process including but not limited to consolidation of budget inputs, loading approved budget into Budget Maestro.

- Analyze monthly financial statements to ensure that all variances between actual and budgeted figures are researched and clearly explained.

- Assess factors which are changing and determine the overall impact to the budgeted consolidated financials.

- Ensure Prospectus schedules updated to include current audited financials.

- Support monthly forecast process including but not limited to consolidation of inputs from business units and summary reporting.

Policies, Procedures and Other

- Ensure that proper policies, procedures & controls exist around gathering, recording, managing of financial data.



5-10 years of experience in an accounting position with at least 5 years’ experience in financial reporting; within the financial services or nonprofit industries preferred. 5+ years in public accounting is also preferred.


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

Professional Skills and Personal Attributes:

- CPA preferred

- Advanced user of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Hands on experience with Sage & Budget Maestro is a plus.
