Description

About the Role:

A Carpenter performs carpentry duties as directed by Project Staff or the Lead Carpenter in accordance with company and OSHA safety regulations. Activities include constructing, erecting, installing & repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, building rough & finish structures such as concrete forms & finish casework.  


Essential Functions:

  • Understanding/Mastery of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans with sufficient understanding to assemble materials, fabricate and install the same
  • Responsible for layout and placement of building material as required by the specifications and work schedules including building wood stairs and rough carpentry
  • Install wall backing and strapping (ex. steel stud framing)
  • Build rough structures such as concrete forms
  • Clean and maintain hand and power equipment daily
  • Proficient and trained in using electrical and or manual equipment and measurement tools 
  • Trained and willing to follow safety guidelines and enforce the same on projects assigned
  • Good understanding of basic math
  • Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Ability to layout for materials, order materials, and install both rough and finish grade products
  • Ability to assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other prefabricated materials and install them where designated
  • Build scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure conformity to the specifications and the construction schedules
  • Comply and take responsibility to ensure all company safety requirements and policies are met
  • Assure that workmanship is of the highest quality

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to: Sit, stand, walk. lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Reaching high and low, stooping and bending continually
  • Able to travel to various project locations
  • Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
  • Able to work in all types of weather

  • Rational decision-making ability with attention to detail
  • Makes final decisions and assumes accountability for them
  • Ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to comprehend and follow directions from team leader
  • Verbal and written communication skills to enable the planning and documentation of defined position tasks


Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10-hour OSHA Training Course sponsored by the company and completed in first three months of employment.
  • First Aid/CPR Training Course sponsored by the company and completed in first three months of employment.
  • 3-5 years of construction experience preferred

Base Hourly Rate: starting at $26/hour and pay is commensurate on technical skills and experience
