Proposal Writer
Remote Worker - N/A

Who We Are:

We are a software development and IT consulting firm who knock the socks off our clients. We work closely with organizations to develop creative and custom software solutions so they can focus on what’s most important, their mission. Here at KL&A, we love what we do and believe that our employees are our greatest asset which is why we search for the best and brightest (and perhaps the most caffeinated) of the bunch. And we don’t mean to brag, but we’re honored to have been named a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press for four years in a row.

Who You Are:

You love building relationships with team members and subject matter experts, persuasive and narrative writing, and collaboratively producing high-quality, winning proposals. You are a logical thinker who enjoys analysis, organizing, and planning, and your attention to detail is so good it’s scary. You're a client-advocate who thinks about how to make proposal evaluation easy for the client. You enjoy collaborating with those around you, but can also accomplish tasks as a solo artist. You’re able to seamlessly transition from one task to the next without skipping a beat, as well as juggle multiple tasks when necessary. Continuous learning is important to you, so you stay up-to-date on the latest trends available. You elevate those around you by mentoring fellow proposal writers and teaching others. You’re personable, self-motivated, and love lending a hand to your colleagues.

About the Role:

As a Proposal Writer, you’ll work closely with technical subject matter experts, content contributors, teammates, and business development leaders. You will participate in every stage of the proposal development lifecycle (PDLC) from solicitation analysis and planning, through content development, review and editing, to final production. You’ll work closely with contributors, especially technical solution teams, to ensure all contributed content is well-written, meets standards, and, most importantly, clearly demonstrates how the proposed solution meets the client’s needs. Experience in the software or product development world will help you to hit the ground running, as well as identify areas within the technical solution that may seem confusing to evaluators or require additional detail. When you lead a proposal effort, you’ll be responsible for the overall quality of the finished proposal. In between proposals, you’ll work with the team to ensure content assets are created or updated, maintaining a high-quality, robust library. You’ll work in both in-person and remote settings. Your work schedule will take place in the Eastern time zone and you’ll travel to our Okemos, MI office on an as-needed basis.
