Our schools are currently located in Akron, Lyndhurst and Westlake, Ohio.   




Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Currently there are campuses in Akron, Lyndhurst and Westlake that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that respect diverse faith traditions.

Key Purpose of This Role: 


To work alongside the Facilities Manager to ensure the security and maintenance of the whole school site and to ensure the school complies with all current legislation relating to site safety and management. To promote and participate in achieving the most efficient and economic use of the school premises, facilities, plant, equipment and materials. 


About the Opportunity:

A successful Apprentice Facilities Manager must be able to adequately perform each essential duty, and have met the required job qualifications and experience. This is a great opportunity for the individual to gain exposure and involvement in all elements of the Facilities Manager role, which will provide gained experience to develop the apprentice in to the Facilities Manager. 


The Apprentice Facilities Manager is responsible for maintenance issues and maintaining the cleanliness of the plant and grounds of Julie Billiart Schools campuses. This includes walkthroughs of the building to audit and ensure janitorial duties have been completed by cleaning staff.


Essential Duties:


The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed. · Complete maintenance requests at campus locations as scheduled or requested which consist of light construction, plumbing, light electrical repair, painting, and other general light maintenance issues that can be handled without contracted services.

· General upkeep of the plant and grounds at each campus, including preventative maintenance needs.

· Responsible for both scheduled and “emergency” cleaning and sanitizing needs throughout the Julie Billiart Network of campuses.

· Clean up after sick students which includes sanitizing and disinfecting affected areas as needed throughout the Julie Billiart Network of campuses.

· Disinfecting areas throughout the schools using an electro-static cleaner.

· Upkeep of the perimeters of the grounds (parking lot, playgrounds).

· Removal of snow from all sidewalks, including salting all sidewalks and driveways as needed.

· Assist the Plant and Grounds Manager with special projects and requests as directed.

· Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.

· Ability to travel to Julie Billiart Schools campuses as requested based upon high priority requests and projects as assigned.

· All other duties as assigned.



Education and Work Experience

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Facilities/Maintenance Technician role

· In lieu of the 2 years’ work experience, will accept a new college graduate from a technical school or other Facilities/Maintenance Technician related 2- or 4-year college or apprenticeship program.

· Proficient at communicating with internal and external customers

· Results-driven with the ability to be flexible
