Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will have primary responsibility for assisting with painting, remolding, carpentry work, and other building repair projects throughout the Arena, Opera House, Exhibit Halls, and outdoor building and parking/park structures.


  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible with assigning with building/repairing and painting assigned/scheduled construction jobs and special building      projects.
  • Responsible for assisting in the maintenance, general repair, security and safe/proper use of shop tools and painting/carpentry equipment and supplies.         
  • Responsible for assisting with drywall installation, repairing and painting office interiors and installing ceiling tile, handing wallpaper, floor tile and baseboards as assigned.        
  • Responsible for assisting with minor electrical, plumbing, concrete repair.           
  • Maintain responsibility for required keys and utility vehicles       Cleans and maintains the shop areas as well, as other areas of the complex.


Requirements

Degree or Vocational Training Should Be In:

Building, carpentry, painting and/or general facilities maintenance and upkeep.


  • Two (2) years of experience performing tasks similar or related to the construction and structural maintenance services required in the operation of an Arena, Convention Center or other building facility.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.   
  • Must have good reading, math and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of basic carpentry, painting and general construction.       
  • Knowledge of construction equipment tools and supplies, and their safe and appropriate use.        
  • The ability to operate a forklift, and use, tools common to use in the construction and building trades.
  • Requires full range of body motions including seeing and hearing to normal range.       
  • Job requires routine standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, speaking, hearing and visually checking work assignments in progress and those that have been completed.        
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required.       
  • Occasionally must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.      
  • Frequently works under stressful working conditions and tight time deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license.

           • 85 % … Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Repetitive Stooping, Bending Climbing.

           •  15% … Routinely Lifting Weights 10 to 35 lbs.

  

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both an enclosed building and outdoors environment with occasional to frequent exposure to outside elements; hot/cold/wet weather.
