Online Senior Account Executive

The Online Senior Account Executive is responsible for all senior-level strategic leadership for digital marketing fundraising programs with our nonprofit and political organization clients. The Senior Account Executive will act as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of several clients, working within a team to deliver direct marketing fundraising programs.


  • Lead day-to-day management and implementation of client digital direct marketing fundraising programs
  • Create and review strategies and annual plans with clients
  • Develop online fundraising/advocacy/promotion plans with specific benchmarks and deliverables, including email newsletters and solicitations, fundraising appeals, social media, advocacy and advertising campaigns, website promotion and more
  • Develop and nurture relationships with client, including frequent communication of progress via phone, email, written progress reports and on-site meetings
  • Coordinate creative services, including writing/editing online fundraising copy, promotional copy and email newsletters and solicitations, and supervising production of design work
  • Develop up-sell/cross-sell strategies
  • Work with staff to manage various aspects of client work
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of each area of agency’s resources
  • Develop agency’s public presence by attending events, publishing white papers, speaking at workshops and getting to know leadership at major agencies and organizations.
  • Keep up to date on online fundraising and advocacy technology, nonprofit development, and commercial technology and techniques that can be applied to nonprofit development
  • Participate in new business proposals and presentations


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly operates a computer and other office equipment and remains in a stationary position, often sitting (or standing if at a standing desk) for prolonged periods; communication is via email, chat, phone, video, and/or in-person with others inside and outside the agency in order to exchange information; repetitive motions may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers in order to operate computer equipment, copy machines, and printers.   • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in one of the following areas of work: advocacy, fundraising, digital project management, online marketing, direct response
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a multi-faceted fundraising, advocacy, social media or direct response program
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising and/or advocacy
  • Technology-oriented, with the ability and desire to understand how online fundraising, marketing and advocacy technology works
  • Experience with Luminate Online (Convio), EveryAction, Salesforce (ExactTarget Marketing Cloud), Engaging Networks, Salsa, Classy, or similar
  • Basic HTML and other web tools experience

MWD gets it all done from our offices in Berkeley CA, Washington DC, and we also have a permanent remote workforce. Currently, though, due to COVID-19, our entire staff is working from home. When MWD offices re-open, we will continue a hybrid working model that balances the flexibility, ease, and convenience of remote work with the relationship-building, collaboration, and development that deepen from regular in-person interactions between our team members. We envision our staff will generally work 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days from home. 

Our Working Locations:

  • This is a full-time position working from our office in either Berkeley, CA or Washington, DC, with flexible work-from-home for all our employee-owners
  • Remote candidates will be considered in the following states: California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington DC, and Virginia
  • Financial assistance may be available for those relocating 100 or more miles to either the Bay Area, CA or the Washington-DC area
