The mission of Sandy Cove Ministries is to help people connect with God and each other in order to be transformed into the image of Christ, through His Word, His creation and community.

Overview & Purpose: Provides cleaning for the public bathrooms and general hallways and lobby areas at Sandy Cove by cleaning toilets, mirrors, sinks, mopping, sweeping & vacuuming floors, emptying trash, restocking, cleaning windows and dusting as well as assisting with washing, drying and folding laundry as well as cleaning guest rooms as needed.  To maintain clean sanitary bathrooms and lobby areas to create a welcoming environment for guests and staff, while meeting guest needs with a pleasant attitude in order to help them better connect with God and each other.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Professionally clean general lobby and hallways, using proper sanitary procedures, by vacuuming, cleaning windows, dusting furniture, emptying trash, wiping away cobwebs
  • Professionally clean public bathrooms, using proper sanitary procedures, by cleaning toilets, mirrors, sinks, mopping and sweeping floors, emptying trash and restocking (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.)
  • Empty trash from administrative offices
  • Clean Exercise Room by wiping down all equipment, cleaning mirrors and window door, vacuuming, picking up dirty towels and restocking with fresh towels, empty trash and wipe down trash cans.
  • Clean TV Room by vacuuming, emptying trash and wiping down trash can, dusting furniture, cleaning door window, pickup games on floor, lock outside door and take TV remote to front desk.
  • Check for any maintenance issues in all areas and correctly report. 
  • Assist with laundry as needed by sorting, washing, drying and folding all linens used for guest rooms
  • Assist with Housekeeper responsibilities as needed
  • Make and distribute cots to guest rooms as requested
  • Keep Housekeeping Department clean and organized. 
  • Clean summer staff cabins, dorms, motel and upper lodging facilities as necessary
  • Perform any other reasonable task assigned

 

Essential skills and experience

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and endurance
  • Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment and to use cleaning supplies
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Good time management skills and self motivated
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and fellow workers
  • Willingness to meet the needs of the guests during their stay

 

Nonessential skills and experience:

Experience working in Christian camps or conference centers

  • Prior hotel housekeeping experience

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically lift up to 40 pounds and will be required to stand and walk for the vast majority of the job, use hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, push and pull for extended periods of time. The ability to see is required to perform the essential job functions.

 

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
