Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, PA providing human services to the community including early childhood education, foster care & adoption, child welfare, mental & behavioral health, community and economic development, housing, violence intervention, and services to community schools.

Department: Foster Care and Adoption

Job Type: Full Time (40 hours/week)

Work Schedule: Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 am to 5 pm

Location: Philadelphia, PA (On Site)



JOB SUMMARY

The Outreach Worker is responsible for recruiting resource families and preparing them for the certification and licensing process. Recruitment efforts will include city wide recruitment of homes.


Some of the main duties and responsibilities are:

Recruitment 

  • Attend events in the community to present information on how to become a resource parent.
  • Reach out to agencies in the community and participate at their events, fairs, and community fests on behalf of the Resource Home program.
  • Recruit kinship and resource parents to care for children and youth in need of placement.
  • Answer inquiries about becoming a resource parent/kinship resource without discriminating against possible candidates.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Pradera.

Training

  • Prepare and present pre-service training curriculum in English/Spanish as needed to potential resource parents.
  • reach out to trainers from other organizations to present training curriculum in support of service and pre-service for the resource parents' requirements.
  • Obtain initial documentation necessary to proceed with certification of prospective kinship and resource parents.
  • Submit completed resource parent's application package documentation to the Resource Home Supervisor for certification and code request.

Requirements
  • Two-year experience in social services related to administrative areas
  • Minimal high school diploma, Preferred Associate Degree in Administration /or Applied Sciences
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances, FBI, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance, Medical examination
  • Bilingual/bicultural, Spanish/English
  • Preferably Knowledge of PA Chapter 3700 Preferred
  • Computer Savvy, familiarity with Microsoft office suite
