JOB SUMMARY:
Deliver product from warehouse to customer in a safe and timely manner within an approximate 100-mile radius as required.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Has an assigned route, but is willing to deliver any route as needed
• Check daily route sheet for assignment
• Perform daily vehicle inspection and notify the transportation department of any defects
• Check, maintain, and report truck temperatures as required by law
• Verify product temperature when receiving from vendor
• Operate delivery vehicle in a safe, efficient and respectful manner
• Deliver orders to the customer in a timely, accurate and professional manner
• Unload product from truck in a floor loaded state at customer location per customer instructions (including placing product in freezer, cooler or dry storage area as required or needed)
• Pick up incorrect orders and/or damaged items from customer as needed per return policy
• Accurately add tickets; write and subtract credits, write receipts on accounts
• Review invoice and verify customer's order with them; accept payment per-the-invoice (where essential)
• Manage any customer issues that arise and assist in resolution
• Ensure all merchandise is removed from truck and accounted for at end of shift (daily)
• Have any returned product reviewed and signed for by a supervisor upon return to warehouse
• Prepare and verify all required paperwork and payments received at end-of-shift and submit to the finance department
• Maintain fuel levels (including refer unit), check oil, safety equipment (daily)
• Keep vehicle clean (cab and box) per HACCP regulations and company policy
QUALIFICATION, SKILL, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift repetitively and transfer an average of 40 pounds but up to 80 pounds
• Ability to bend and reach for products; climb in and out of vehicle to unload orders from vehicle; pull handcart up and down stairs, ramps, gravel, grass, and over curbs repetitively
• Requires prolonged periods of driving
• Perform basic math skills and/or count money required
• Ability to work in extreme climates
• Excellent communications, interpersonal skills and customer care skills required
• Must be able to meet the Driver Qualifications requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Section 391.11 (at least 21 years of age, etc.).
• Current CDL license and DOT Physical
• Excellent driving record
• Minimum two years "CDL" driving experience or appropriate on-the-job training preferred.
• Ability to pass a government background check
• High School diploma
