Description

   

PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF THE PROGRAM:

 The MDFT program is a family focused, ecologically oriented evidence based model effective in the treatment of children/adolescents between the ages of 9 and 18 with substance abuse and/or dependence issues, or with disruptive behaviors and/or comorbid psychiatric issues who are at risk for substance abuse.  MDFT is designed to reduce the influence of factors that place a child/adolescent at risk for substance abuse while strengthening the presence of protective factors, such as supporting a positive parent-child relationship.

  • Must hold one of the following credentials to start a position: LMSW, LCSW,      LMFTA, LMFT, LPCA, LPC or licensed or license eligible psychologist. Please note that you can apply prior to receiving the above credentials.

POSITION SUMMARY:

 The Clinician provides in home intensive treatment services to families to meet the broad needs of children and adults to be served.  Therapists assume responsibility for coordinating the provision of services by other community professions.  They must work a flexible schedule in order to accommodate the individual family needs, schedules, and in order to respond to a crisis.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides in home intensive treatment services to families including: crisis intervention, parent guidance and education, brief psychotherapy, concrete services, advocacy and linkage to other services and supportive interventions individualized to meet the broad needs of children and adults to be served. Facilitate the HIV/STD prevention group.
  • Assumes responsibility for coordinating the provision of services by other community professions
  • Evening appointments are required up to 8pm several times per week.  Weekend hours must be provided when clinically indicated.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to the MDFT model, and shows fidelity to all contract, certification, and licensing requirements and booster trainings.
  • Gathers and completes all QI and DCF required measures, e.g., Ohio, GAIN-Q, PIE, MDFT portal.
  • Provides services consistent with Boys & Girls Village standards (carries a caseload of 6 -8 families, average of 15-18 hours direct service hours per week)
  • Maximize program utilization, and ensure appropriate billing of services
  • Completes urine drug screens as needed
  • Documents all services in adherence with state statures, regulatory, billing, COA and Boys & Girls Village Standards.
  • Participates in on-call rotation
  • Participates in live supervision as indicated by model requirements.
  • Certification obtained within 1 year and maintained yearly.
  • Attend weekly supervision with Program Manager

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides resolution of problems arising during a crisis in order to divert out of home placement (on call rotation via cell phone)
  • Participates all required trainings, network meetings, booster meetings, DCF reviews, etc.
  • Prevent, intervene and report instances of child abuse or neglect.
  • Keeps program manager apprised of any and all situations which involve the safety of any individuals in the program or community, to monitor the impact on the agency as well as its mission of care for children and families.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in order to deliver seamless services throughout the agency.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Requires a Master’s Degree in social work or similar degree.
  • Must be licensed or license-eligible
  • Be willing to provide services in the home
  • Demonstrated history of cultural competence.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bi-lingual

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • N/A

           

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs
  • Must be able to work with clients in a variety of settings

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Some weekends may be required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a reliable automobile.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
