This position is based at our facility located in Point Reyes, CA.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Dairy Farm Manager performs managerial duties for dairy functions, land, pasture as well as dairy staff.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Manage and maintain newly installed milking robots (Lely and T4C) 

· Track and enter all data related to milking robots and herd management  

· Manage staff schedules and division of responsibilities 

· Coordinate with dairy contractors: vet, nutritionist etc. 

· Negotiate feed purchases and contracts 

· Uphold best sanitation practices 

· Responsible for perpetuation of the herd 

· Responsible for land management practices, including sileage crop 

· Manage/maintain equipment 

· Oversee safe work environments 

· Conduct safety trainings 

· Maintain SOP's and GMP's 

· Communicate with owners and head cheesemaker  

· Other duties as assigned 

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Oversee All Dairy Workers

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the Dairy Manager will work outside on the farm and in barns.  The job includes working outside in the cold, rain and heat and around animals.  Additionally, the Dairy Manager is provided an office to complete any and all administrative functions. He/She is expected to drive large machinery. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The individual must be able to lift, transport, pull and push up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to regularly stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, bend, and perform other general duties. Be physically able to work on your feet as this position will spend 90% of the time standing.   


POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 

This is a full-time position.  Accepts flexible working schedule which can include weekends, evenings, and holidays. May be called on duty if an urgent matter or emergency arises. 


TRAVEL 

Minimal travel is expected 


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

· Strong applicable work history 

· BS degree in Dairy Science 

· Certification in artificial insemination 


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Supervisory experience 


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS 

Veterinarian technician
