The Facilities Manager will report to the VP of Operations and oversee all building and grounds maintenance for Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese. They will be responsible for ensuring the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational. The facilities director will also be responsible for managing several contractors and working with third-party vendors. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all facility equipment.

This position is based at our production facility located in Point Reyes, CA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspecting buildings' structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
  •  Record keeping of fleet and equipment.
  • Manages budgets and keeps records of all payments to review utilities consumption and strives to minimize costs
  • Manages, inspects, and troubleshoot equipment and facilities to locate needed repairs
  • Perform general maintenance and routine repairs as needed to meet health and safety standards.
  • Maintain all facility buildings and grounds, keeping the site clean and always organized.
  • Monitor fire alarms and assist in maintenance and corrective action.
  • Request parts, tools, materials and supplies as needed for equipment and building maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Highly Organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to make decisions, solve problems, manage time and calmly handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to operate any of the following types of equipment; front-end loaders, forklifts and other light, medium and heavy-duty motorized equipment associated with the operation of the Facility.
  • Use hand and power tools as required to operate, repair and maintain related equipment.
  • Must be able to manage the facility and related equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to self-perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues with the operating equipment.
  • Proficient in MS Office

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the Facilities Manager will work outside on the farm. The job includes working outside in the cold, rain and heat and around animals. Additionally, the Facilities Manager is provided an office to complete any and all administrative functions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The individual must be able to lift, transport, pull and push up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to regularly stand, walk, lift carry, push, pull, climb, bend, and perform other general duties. Climbing, reaching, walking, sitting, grasping, repetitive motions, visual acuity, and hearing.

Must be able to respond quickly to signals to avoid injury or equipment leaks. Must be aware of and follow all safety procedures and OSHA requirements. May be exposed to wastewater treatment sludge and/or effluent.


POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Accepts flexible working schedule which can include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be able to be on call in case of emergencies or incidents.


TRAVEL
Some travel is expected between both plants.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Education or Certification in mechanics, engineering, or agricultural field is preferred but not required.

· Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.

· Must have high mechanical aptitude and experience working with machines and reading gauges, dials, and indicators.

· Must have experience working with computers and MS Office


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a valid driver’s license.
