Vydia’s Scalable Software Architecture, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence efforts are an integral part of our success. We have a multitude of data pipelines to and from our streaming platform partners (Spotify, iTunes/Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, TikTok, etc.). Our customers range from musical artists and creators, to music labels — and all of them rely on the data we provide in order to operate their businesses. We are currently seeking a Senior Python Software Engineer to work as a key player on one of our software development teams, enhancing the systems that our Software and Data Engineers use.

An ideal candidate is intimately familiar with using Python3, OOP, software design, and has some experience with Airflow and containers (Docker). We use AWS S3, ECS/EKS, and EC2 extensively, our current DW is on Redshift, and our app relies mostly on Postgres and Redis. We use Looker in-house for BI, and our Product Engineers work primarily in ReactJS, Ruby, and GraphQL.

As a Senior Python Software Engineer on the team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Work alongside software engineers to write, test, and enhance tooling and software (Python3, Ruby, and Golang) to enable BI/Data engineers in accomplishing business, product, and technical goals.
  • Plan, design, implement, and test ETL/ELT DAGs using Airflow and AWS cloud services like ECS, S3, Redshift, EC2, RDS, EKS, etc.
  • Work closely with product engineers to make application data available for product features.
  • Assist business analysts by developing software and tooling backends (Python3) to allow them to find, retrieve and shape data.
  • Integrate with REST APIs (Python3 & Ruby) to collect data and normalize across multiple sources.
  • Uphold, introduce, software and engineering best practices and KPIs benchmarks.
  • Challenge existing structures and thought processes!
  • Clearly and concisely communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and peers
  • Share knowledge and expertise with teammates and vice versa
  • Contribute to documenting code coverage and software test coverage
  • Constantly strive to improve software engineering workflows and efficiency, and heavily utilize automation whenever applicable
  • Optimize software and data pipelines for performance, scalability, and high quality
  • Work closely with DevSecOps to optimize cloud infrastructure performance and scalability
  • Participate in code reviews, with a willingness for feedback and personal growth.


  • Strong Python3 or Ruby skills (classes, closures, OOP, unit testing, TDD)
  • Efficient PSQL with an eye for readability and good style (PostgreSQL or Redshift experience is a plus. Airflow is also a plus.)
  • 4+ years of AWS (or related, GCP) experience.
  • Passionate about the latest development trends in technology.
  • Fast at learning and seeks constructive criticism; experience with Code Reviews
  • Can dive into a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to adapt to change quickly; Scrum/Agile methodologies
  • Can intuitively extract values and insights from data.
  • Experience interfacing with REST API’s; Oauth, and Rate limiting
  • You can articulate the merits and pitfalls of the different approaches when discussing potential solutions.
  • Data quality is always top of mind.
