American Farmland Trust is the only national organization that takes a holistic approach to agriculture, focusing on the land itself, the agricultural practices used on that land, and the farmers and ranchers who do the work. AFT launched the conservation agriculture movement and continues to raise public awareness through our No Farms, No Food message. Since our founding in 1980, AFT has helped permanently protect over 6.5 million acres of agricultural lands, advanced environmentally-sound farming practices on millions of additional acres, and supported thousands of farm families. Long a pioneering leader, AFT is now riding a new wave of growth, driven by agriculture’s most pressing needs and opportunities.
Under the direction of the California State Director, the Program Manager will lead the Underserved Farmer Outreach Program which aims to support California’s under-represented farmers and ranchers by providing access to conservation-focused technical and financial assistance. This bilingual position will work to build programming and develop new resources, trainings, and online tools for underserved, young, and beginning farmers and will work closely with AFT CA’s Women for the Land program manager and other AFT staff to develop overall program effectiveness. The Program Manager is a full-time position based out of AFT's Sacramento, California office. The position requires statewide travel to attend conferences and events, conduct partner and community outreach, and host technical assistance workshops, approximately 20-25% of the time.
