Highway Engineer

TPD is seeking a mid-level highway engineer who will be responsible for assisting on design projects for various county clients, NJDOT, DRPA, NJTA, DVRPC and DRJTBC. This engineer would work out of TPD's Freehold, NJ office. Experience with AutoCAD is required, and experience with MicroStation would be beneficial. Primary responsibilities will include providing highway and bridge managers with design plans, design calculations, and various other design facets for roadway and bridge improvement projects.

We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate most if not all of the following attributes, qualifications, and skills:

  • Experience working with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with highway/roadway engineering aspects, such as construction plans, profiles, cross-sections, typical sections, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans. Understanding of NJDOT items, quantities, and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail and phone.
  • Ability to work with others and facilitate teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain and monitor design schedules and budgets.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 4+ years of highway design experience.
  • Valid Professional Engineers license in New Jersey (preferred) or the ability to obtain a New Jersey license within 2-3 years.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to get things done.
