Position Description


We’re seeking a data-driven individual to work at the intersection of strategy and execution as a support layer for all Commercial departments. As part of the Business Intelligence team within U.S. Soccer’s Analytics department, you’ll work hands-on with our data scientists to find signal within the data while also being an outward-facing interpreter for non-technical departments. This role is for someone who excels at identifying business opportunities within the data and communicating new ideas to internal stakeholders.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Wrangle data. Define data quality methods and implement processes with cross-functional teams to ensure fan engagement data is always ready for analysis.
  • Fan research. Lead our primary fan research plan, working closely with agency partners, to understand fan sizing, segments, and need-states.
  • Identify opportunities. Serve as a savvy digital leader that identifies unmet opportunities to make the internal teams smarter, faster, or better attuned to fan need-states.
  • Deliver insights. Work with Data Science team to translate data into consistent reporting and actionable insights/storylines to inform the decision-making among Commercial and Comms teams (Content, Insiders, Consumer Products, Ticketing, Partnerships).
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience working with customer data to define and execute on strategy
  • Experience working with common tag management technologies for conversion tracking, A/B testing, and other customer tracking methods (including Google Tag Manager)
  • Proven understanding of web and social media analytics tools and metrics (Google Analytics, Blinkfire, Relo Metrics, Zoomph, etc)
  • Advanced Tableau and Excel skills (IF functions, macros, array formulas)
  • Familiarity with linear and OTT television landscape as well as SVOD platforms, including measurement practices
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize the most impactful tasks
  • Able and willing to travel up to 5% of the year
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed


Desired Qualifications

  • Intermediate Python or R skills 
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Strong knowledge of data usage in sports and sports business
  • Passion for soccer and a solid understanding of the soccer landscape in the United States
  • People management experience
