The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority has an exciting opportunity for a high school student from the Syracuse City School District CTE program to join our team as a temporary Security Intern in the Summer of 2022. This position includes the opportunity to work on projects in the following areas:

• Maintenance of all records relating to security of airport, including taking copies of ID’s, preparing Annual Audit Books, updating folders as needed
• Compliance with all aspects of CFR49 Part 1542
• Compliance with all sensitive security information (SSI) protocols
• Collecting and transmitting a variety of data to the Transportation Security Administration and Syracuse Regional Airport Authority
• Review Airport Security programs and makes recommendations for updates and changes to the Airport Security Coordinator
• Learning and understanding the role of the Security Division and how it fits into the overall safety and security of passengers, staff and infrastructure
• Review and familiarization of Code of Federal Regulation Title 49 Part 1542
• Review and familiarization of pertinent TSA National Amendments and Security Directives
• Review and familiarization of the SYR Airport Security Program
• Learning and understanding the role of the Transportation Security Agency in the airport security environment
• Assisting in the inspection of access points, cameras, the Sterile Area, the Secured Area, the Air Operations Area, airport fence line and other controls or facilities affecting airport security 
• Assist in the development of the yearly training calendar, training schedules, and training exercises
• At the end of the internship the intern should be familiar with the federal regulations on airport security, the SYR ASP and have a working knowledge of how SYR Security Division provides security to the airport.

Program End Date: Thursday, August 18, 2022 

Schedule:   Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (18 hours per week)

Supervisor(s): Airport Security Coordinator 

• Must be a student at Syracuse City School District, enrolled in Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program
• Entering senior year of high school in the Fall
• Interested in Criminal Justice, Aviation, Security, Public Safety, or related field
• Driven, hard-working, reliable, trainable, and get along well with others
• Previous computer experience, preferably in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must have student working papers, and proper identification and employment authorization required to pass security clearance to work at a commercial airport
