The Pit Laborer plays a key role in supporting daily pit operations by maintaining equipment, assisting with product movement, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work in an outdoor environment and values teamwork and safety.
Duties and Performance Measures
- Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, per manufacturer recommendations
- Conduct thorough equipment inspections, perform minor repairs, and report discrepancies
- Carry out vehicle and equipment repairs as assigned
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to order parts and document parts and labor used
- Assist with moving, unloading, verifying, and properly storing products
- Load trucks efficiently to minimize customer and shipment wait times
- Clean all equipment and vehicles daily to maintain a professional appearance
- Assist in product conversion, equipment operation, and site clean-up as directed
- Maintain assigned work areas and common areas (control rooms, washrooms, etc.)
- Organize storage of equipment, vehicles, and materials for accessibility throughout the pit mining area
- Help ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations, including first aid provisions, fall hazard management, and fire extinguisher placement

Hours: 6:00 am to 5:00pm or until done. (OT after 40hrs)
