WORK DESCRIPTION:
Plans, coordinates, and directs training and staff development programs for the organization by performing the following duties personally or through engaging or coordinating other trainers, either internally or externally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assessses training needs through observation, discussion with managers and supervisors, and other means, such as surveys.
- Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements, and works with the Grants Department to identify training funding sources.
- Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, role play, and on-line formats for various trainings.
- Delivers trainings as well as coordinates trainings delivered by others.
- Delivers and/or coordinates course meeting Illinois Certification Board standards for individuals seeking to become certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC).
- Selects appropriate means of demonstrating training effectiveness, such as pre and post training tests.
- Organizes and develops a training materials library.
- Researches and advises administration on outside trainers to conduct training in specific topics.
- Works as part of a team to develop Spring and Fall Workshops and Summer Institute sessions.
- Develops and distributes a comprehensive training calendar at least monthly.
- Continually evaluates training progress and training procedures to monitor and analyze course effectiveness and update curriculum as needed.

Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Three to five years' experience in substance use disorders field.
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) required. Additional clinical licensure (LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCPC) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree (BA).
