Description
Northern Concrete is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Total Station Operator to join our construction team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accurate layout and construction of our projects. Your primary responsibilities will include operating surveying instruments, coordinating field data, and maintaining a high level of precision throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities:
- Layout construction sites for the installation of footings, walls, and flatwork.
- Assist wall crews in the accurate placement of anchor bolts and reinforcement of walls and footings.
- Check elevation/verify with plans and set heights.
- Perform various administrative duties.
- Review all plans.
- Load field data into the computer.
- File jobs.
- Relay information from the field to Supervisor and CAD department.
- Create accurate field notes for use in job binders.
- Maintain inventory on van.
- Adjust and operate surveying instruments such as prisms.
- Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction, using engineering plans.
- Position and hold the vertical rods or targets.
- Search for section corners, property irons, and survey points.
- Lay out grids and determine horizontal and vertical controls.
- Compare survey computations with applicable standards to determine the adequacy of data.
- Maintain equipment and vehicles used by surveying crews.
- Coordinate re-digs and relay info to the supervisor.
- Ensure all soil conditions are acceptable for the placement of concrete.
- Ensure all side banks and jumps are safety ensured for NCC employees.
- Responsible for stopping pours if placement isn’t eye/plan ready.
- Needs to have a supervisor's eye and report any failure of systems/process procedures.
- Help plan the schedule, including communicating factors that will influence the schedule.
- Reporting of all total station checklist items.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Total Station Operator or similar role in construction.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining surveying instruments (Trimble experience preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and drawings.
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicle.
