Bizzell is seeking a Safety Manager who will be responsible for providing safety management at NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/ Facilities Maintenance and Operations Support Services contract, located in Pasadena, CA. This career opportunity is contingent upon the contract award. To be considered for this position, it may require a signed letter of intent.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight in developing and maintaining NASA JPL safety program to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local human health, environmental protection, safety, loss prevention standards and regulations.
  • Serve as point of contact for NASA JPL Occupational Safety Program Office.
  • Develop and implement programs that support NASA JPL business continuity and emergency management plan.
  • Communicate effectively with Bizzell, NASA JPL management team, personnel, and sub-contractors on occupational safety procedures. Provide environmental, health and safety training.
  • Document daily rounds within the facility.
  • Provides field updates to Bizzell’s management team and NASA JPL officials when facility infrastructure is compromised, or critical repairs are made.
  • Oversee annual reviews and revisions of NASA JPL Occupational Safety operating procedures.
  • Recommend operational improvements and communication systems.
  • Performs safety audits and inspections of buildings, equipment, ground, and operations. Maintains accurate logs that documents environmental, hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify corrective actions plans to enforce safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documents that are related to chemicals, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and refrigerants that are used by personnel.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a federal government clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Certified Safety professional required.
  • 10 years of Safety Management experience in facilities and environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Cal – Occupational Safety and Heath, EPA, ISO and OSHA standards and regulatory requirements.
  • 10 years of Federal government contracting (i.e., Federal Acquisition Regulation/System, Work Control, Property Accountability System, Acquisition of Equipment, Materials, and Supplies) experienced required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete work assignments in a timely manner.
