Description
This position involves working closely with patients, doctors and midlevel providers who treat a wide array of neurological conditions. Expectations of this role include: reviewing the patient’s chart, scheduling various types of neurological surgeries and procedures, maintain a high level of organization, effective communication with patients and providers, and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Serves as main resource to physician for surgery scheduling.
- Communicates with Billing department to obtain pre-authorizations.
- Assists in the coordination of pre-op care for all patients.
- Communicates information to patients and families.
- Works collaboratively with physician and midlevel provider care team.
- Maintains physician’s surgical calendar.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
- Completes all surgical forms and sends to surgical facility.
- Ensures all paperwork needed for surgery is received by the facility.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Education:
- A high school diploma/GED required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with only general supervision.
- At least 1 years’ experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Previous EMR experience preferred.
