POSITION SUMMARY 

The Lead Obstetrician/Gynecologist provides clinical leadership and oversight for women’s health services, including obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive health care. This role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care while supporting clinical operations, provider performance, and program growth.

Clinical Leadership & Oversight 

  • Provide clinical leadership for OB/GYN services across all sites. 
  • Establish, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and best practices for obstetric and gynecologic care. 
  • Serve as a clinical resource. mentor and supervisor of OB/GYN providers and support staff. 
  • Lead peer review, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives within women’s health services. 

Direct Patient Care 

  • Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including prenatal, postpartum, family planning, and gynecologic services. 
  • Perform routine and high-risk OB/GYN procedures within the scope of practice. 
  • Participate in on-call coverage and hospital privileges as required. 
  • Ensure continuity of care and appropriate referrals to specialty and ancillary services. 

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including DOH, HRSA, and hospital-affiliated requirements. 
  • Support risk management activities, including incident review, documentation standards, and patient safety initiatives. 
  • Participate in audits, chart reviews, and accreditation-readiness efforts. 

Program Development & Operations 

  • Collaborate with executive and operational leadership to improve access, patient flow, and service delivery. 
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of OB/GYN providers. 
  • Contribute to strategic planning for women’s health services, including service expansion and integration with primary care and behavioral health. 
  • Monitor clinical productivity, outcomes, and patient satisfaction metrics. 

Collaboration & Community Engagement 

  • Work closely with nursing leadership, care coordination, behavioral health, and social services to support integrated, whole-person care. 
  • Represent OB/GYN services in internal committees and external partnerships. 
  • Support community outreach and patient education initiatives related to women’s health. 

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. 
  • Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. 
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State. 
  • Active DEA registration. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical OB/GYN experience, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. 
  • Hospital admitting privileges or ability to obtain them. 
  • Clinical leadership and mentorship. 
  • Women’s health and obstetric care excellence. 
  • Quality improvement & patient safety. 
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural humility, and trauma-informed care. 
  • Data-driven decision making.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES 

  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or safety-net setting. 
  • Experience working with diverse, underserved, or high-risk populations. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) preferred. 
  • Experience with quality improvement, clinical protocol development, or medical staff leadership.

$295,000 - $303,000
