SUMMARY
The school seeks a talented, enthusiastic, and experienced math educator with a strong mathematical background who is comfortable teaching Middle School mathematics from Grade 5 through Honors Algebra and Algebra 1, including working with highly advanced learners.
The position requires collaboration with colleagues to design and implement a program that is engaging, confidence-building, appropriately challenging, and aligned across grade levels. The faculty member will join a team committed to blending innovative and research-based practices with a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The school seeks an outstanding educator for Middle School Math, whose duties comprise:
- Teaching four sections of Middle School Math within the comprehensive math curriculum;
- Appropriately facilitating both application and project-based math;
- Creating a classroom environment that promotes the explanation of concepts, collaborative learning, and the use of a variety of resources;
- Designing and facilitating instruction that extends beyond procedural fluency to emphasize conceptual understanding, abstraction, and connections across mathematical topics;
- Supporting and challenging advanced learners, including those enrolled in Honors Algebra, through rich tasks that require critical thinking, generalization, and justification;
- The willingness to join collaborative math teams built around courses and grade levels;
- Serving as a grade level advisor and team member managing all aspects of the grade level experience where the focus is on building character and building community.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have 3-5 years of prior teaching experience with Middle School students;
- Experience teaching Honors Algebra, Algebra 1, or higher-level mathematics and working with mathematically advanced middle school students.
- Demonstrate competency with student-centered technology, an interest in advancing and supporting its use to enhance student learning, and the desire to employ technology to connect with students;
- Possess a strong foundation in algebra, including experience teaching or readiness to teach Honors Algebra or equivalent advanced coursework;
- Demonstrate the ability to teach mathematics conceptually, helping students understand underlying structures, make connections, and articulate mathematical reasoning;
- Have a rich background in the Algebras and algebraic thinking;
- Collaborate with other members of the math department to ensure a developmentally appropriate, aligned mathematics program;
- Encourage and support both reluctant mathematicians and advanced mathematical thinkers;
- Differentiate effectively to both support students who need reinforcement and extend students who require significant academic challenge;
- Have the ability to support students in their acquisition and development of key process skills related to mathematics;
- Be skilled in asking purposeful questions that push student thinking and uncover misconceptions;
- Work to develop a growth mindset and resilience in all math learners;
- Be enthusiastic about creating student-centered lessons that allow young learners to develop a variety of mathematical strategies;
- Be motivated to find ways to contribute to the life of the community through Math club, Quiz Bowl, math competitions, etc.;
- Have the optimism, desire, and positive enthusiasm to work with Middle School students and to partner with their families.
