Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and field-driven Material Coordinator to support our civil construction operations. This position is primarily based in the field and is responsible for verifying, tracking, and documenting all materials delivered to job sites.

While this role will require occasional office work for reporting and coordination, the majority of time will be spent on active job sites confirming deliveries and supporting field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary field contact for all incoming material deliveries.
  • Verify all materials delivered against purchase orders, tickets, and expected quantities.
  • Physically count, inspect, and document materials upon arrival.
  • Confirm and sign off on deliveries, ensuring proper documentation is completed.
  • Identify and report discrepancies (shortages, damages, incorrect materials) immediately.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time tracking of materials across multiple job sites.
  • Coordinate with vendors, drivers, Project Managers, and field crews.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication regarding material deliveries and issues.
  • Maintain organized records of delivery tickets, receipts, and logs.
  • Inspect and verify fire hydrants for proper installation and functionality.
  • Perform and document required water testing.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with yard inventory tracking and reconciliation.
  • Support Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) coordination and plan mark-ups.
  • Coordinate with sod vendors and assist with invoice review.
  • Support Project Managers with general project tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with document control and communication between field and office teams.

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  •   High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of civil construction field experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and material takeoffs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working primarily outdoors on active construction sites.
  • Ability to walk job sites, stand for extended periods, and perform physical material verification.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, this role directly impacts cost control and job accuracy.
