Position Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Business Intelligence Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics to support revenue cycle operations. This role bridges the gap between data and decision-making, helping healthcare organizations improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and compliance through actionable insights.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Design and develop business intelligence (BI) dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as accounts receivable (AR) days, denial rates, and net collection rates.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of revenue cycle data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all reports and analytics.
  • System Integration and Optimization:
  • Work closely with IT and revenue cycle teams to integrate BI tools with revenue cycle management (RCM) systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements to improve data accessibility and reporting capabilities.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Support:
  • Partner with revenue cycle leaders, finance teams, and clinical staff to understand their reporting needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue cycle data, advising stakeholders on leveraging BI tools for decision-making.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Develop automated tools and workflows to track revenue cycle performance and alert teams to underperformance or compliance risks.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues such as high denial rates or delayed payments and propose corrective actions.
  • Compliance and Data Governance:
  • Ensure data analytics processes comply with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA) and organizational policies.
  • Establish and maintain data governance practices to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.
  • Training and Documentation:
  • Provide training to end-users on BI tools, dashboards, and data interpretation.
  • Document processes, methodologies, and standards for reporting and analytics.
  • Improvement in revenue cycle KPIs, including AR days, denial rates, and net collection percentages.
  • Timely and accurate delivery of reports and dashboards.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Successful implementation and adoption of BI tools and workflows.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and functions within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintains compliant with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program and applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned during and outside of normal business hours as needed.

Competency, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with healthcare systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and managing databases.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle metrics, workflows, and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction.
Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, information systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Three plus (3+) years of experience in revenue cycle management, healthcare analytics, or BI development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work environment will be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
  • Physical and mental ability to analyze data, problem solve and think critically.
  • Ability to work after non-business hours as needed.
