Description
We are actively seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to become a vital member of our maintenance team in a dynamic environment. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow technicians to execute preventive maintenance and repairs on our fleet, as well as machinery that supports our post-collection facility and equipment servicing the container shop. Your strong technical skills and unwavering attention to safety and regulatory standards will be crucial in ensuring our operations run smoothly. You will take charge of maintenance tasks, effectively reducing downtime, enhancing equipment reliability, and driving the team’s overall success.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: You will lead the charge in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery for the post-collection facility and container shop. Your advanced knowledge of engine systems, emission systems, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, vehicle body control systems, heating and cooling systems, and welding techniques will enable you to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: You will expertly conduct diagnostics and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to pinpoint necessary repairs. When needed, you will participate in road tests to verify the effectiveness of your repairs.
- Safety Standards: You will ensure that all repairs and maintenance work meet our rigorous safety standards and comply with applicable federal and state regulations. Your proactive involvement in inspections and your ability to report safety concerns will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment. They will cement your position as a cornerstone of our safety culture.
- Inventory Management: You will take ownership of maintaining proper control over parts and equipment inventory. Your communication with supervisors regarding parts needs and assistance in budget-conscious purchasing will be instrumental in keeping operations running smoothly.
- Documentation: You will meticulously document all preventive and corrective maintenance work performed, maintaining accurate records and logs as required by the company.
- Safety Protocols: You will adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and full compliance with regulatory requirements. Your strong commitment to safety and teamwork will significantly contribute to our collective success and cultivate a positive work atmosphere.
Requirements
- 5 years of Diesel Mechanic work
- Knowledge of a hydraulic system
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and ABS systems demonstrates your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities.
- Must have own set of tools
- CDL Class B license is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Availability to work afternoon shifts, with flexibility for occasional overtime or weekend work, is required to meet operational needs.
- Welding experience is a plus, but not required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze parts and systems on trucks and tractor-trailers
- Ability to work with moderate supervision and follow established procedures
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
