Description
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) – Wind Energy supports the successful planning, execution, and closeout of utility-scale wind projects. This role assists the Project Manager in overseeing field operations, subcontractor coordination, budget tracking, scheduling, compliance, and client communication. The APM plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Execution
- Support the Project Manager in day-to-day execution of wind construction projects
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Track project milestones and proactively identify risks or delays
- Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, and construction activities
Financial & Contract Management
- Assist with budget tracking, cost control, and change order management
- Review subcontractor invoices and track commitments
- Support monthly cost reporting and financial forecasting
Help manage purchase orders and procurement documentation
Field & Operational Support
- Work closely with site superintendents and field engineers
- Monitor construction progress including civil, foundations, underground, erection, and commissioning activities
- Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Support punch list development and project closeout documentation
Safety & Quality
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with company and OSHA standards
- Ensure compliance with quality control procedures
- Participate in safety meetings and audits
- Assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in construction or renewable energy projects
- Experience in wind energy, heavy civil, or utility-scale construction preferred
- Strong understanding of project scheduling software (Primavera P6 or MS Project preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of contract documents and construction processes
