 About Us

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Chicagoland’s diverse immigrant and refugee communities. Established in 1981, CMAA is a cornerstone of the “Asia on Argyle” corridor of the Uptown Neighborhood of Chicago with a satellite office in Elgin, IL, providing programs to serve our community across generations. We offer after-school, summer camp, and mentoring programs for young people. For adults, we provide case management and social services, education including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, job preparation and placement services, and immigration and citizenship case assistance. We connect older adults to in-home care support and community enrichment through our Golden Age Club. Finally, we support entrepreneurs and small businesses as the only AAPI-led Small Business Development Center in Illinois. 


Job Description

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is seeking a highly knowledgeable and detail-oriented nonprofit IT Manager / Director of Information Technology who is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and management of the organization’s technology infrastructure and information systems. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support CMAA’s mission. The position oversees IT operations across multiple office locations and programs, ensuring that staff, volunteers, and clients have the technology tools necessary to deliver services efficiently and securely.


Key Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement CMAA’s technology strategy aligned with organizational goals and program needs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all IT operations, including infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, and technology support.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify technology opportunities that improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead IT-related projects including system upgrades, cloud adoption, and digital transformation initiatives.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including:
    • Servers and cloud platforms
    • Network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/WiFi)
    • End-user devices and workstations
    • Backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems such as:
    • Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace
    • Active Directory / Identity Management
    • Case management or program management systems
    • Financial and HR systems
  • Ensure high system availability and performance across all CMAA offices and program locations.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain cybersecurity policies and best practices to protect organizational and client data.
  • Implement controls related to:
    • Access management and authentication
    • Data protection and encryption
    • Endpoint security and monitoring
    • Incident response procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy standards and nonprofit regulatory requirements.

Technology Support & Operations

  • Manage IT support services for staff across departments, including:
    • Adult education
    • Workforce development
    • Youth programs
    • Social services
    • In-home care services
  • Oversee helpdesk operations, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.

Data & Reporting

  • Support program teams with data systems used for reporting, grant compliance, and program evaluation.
  • Assist departments in implementing tools that improve data collection, reporting, and analytics.
  • Ensure data integrity and secure management of organizational information.
  • Acts as the primary custodian of an organization's Salesforce CRM, ensuring it runs efficiently to meet business needs.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage relationships with external IT vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems.
  • Develop and manage the IT department budget, including hardware, software, licensing, and services.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise IT staff or managed service providers.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to employees across departments.
  • Promote best practices for technology usage and cybersecurity awareness.
Requirements

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. 
  • This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

 The approximate salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Please note that the indicated base salary is provided in good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, etc.
