Description

Shee Atika Inc. is seeking a Food Truck Operator to join our team for a seasonal role beginning March 15th working through mid-October 2026, in Sitka, AK. The Food Truck Operator will manage daily operations of our food truck. This role combines culinary skills, business savvy, and a passion for sharing stories about Alaska’s food traditions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensures food safety, and delivers exceptional hospitality.

Sheet’ká Salmon Tales is a mobile culinary experience celebrating the rich flavors of Alaska’s wild salmon and local ingredients. Our mission is to share the story of Sitka’s heritage and sustainable seafood practices through delicious, high-quality meals served with exceptional friendliness and hospitality.


The Food Truck Operator will be responsible for the following to include, but not limited to:


Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare and cook menu items featuring Alaska salmon and local ingredients.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality through consistency, presentation, and portion control.

Truck Operations

  • Safely operate and maintain the food truck.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Manage inventory: place supply orders through an online portal, receive shipments, keep loss to a minimum, ensure necessary supplies are always in-stock
  • Set up and break down the truck for service, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Provide support to staff by managing pricing details and ensuring efficient, error-free payment processing.

Customer Service

  • Interact with guests during service with warmth and professionalism.
  • Respond to guest needs and resolve minor issues quickly and courteously.
  • Assist with special requests and dietary accommodations when possible.

Team Support

Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service.

  • Oversee and coordinate food truck staff, ensuring clear communication and a positive team environment.

Cultural Storytelling

  • Share the story behind the menu, highlighting the heritage and traditions of Sitka and the Tlingit people through food and conversation.
  • Introduce guests to the cultural significance of salmon and other traditional foods, the rainforest, and Tlingit heritage in a respectful and engaging way
  • Serve as an ambassador for local culture, ensuring every interaction reflects respect and authenticity.
Requirements

Minimum Candidate Requirements

  • Candidate must have authorization to work for any US employer without employer sponsorship.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Candidate must have ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50lbs multiple times per day
  • Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Candidate must have previous culinary experience
  • Candidate must have operating point-of-sales (POS) systems and cash handling
  • Candidate must have Certified Food Protection Managers Certificate or able to obtain it within 1 month of hire date

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of Alaska seafood and local culture is a plus
