We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and technically proficient Gear & Media Coordinator to support our production team across all phases of production, from pre-production through post-production. This role is responsible for the oversight, management, and readiness of all production gear and media management. This includes camera, audio, lighting, and grip equipment; DIT and post-production computers and hard drives; as well as production-related hunt, camp, partnership, and field equipment. The Gear & Media Coordinator will be accountable for ensuring all gear is properly maintained, organized, prepared, and available to support production needs. This position is a key member of the MeatEater production team, ensuring crews are fully equipped and that all gear and media perform at peak efficiency across every production environment. Production gear and media are among our company’s most valuable and financially critical assets, making their management a top priority. Core Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain production camera gear including cameras, lenses, audio equipment, lighting, and support systems
- Prep, test, and pack equipment for field productions
- Track and maintain an organized inventory of all production gear
- Coordinate gear check-in and check-out across multiple productions
- Offload, organize, and securely back up media from camera cards and drives; this will include creating proxy files
- Maintain clear file structures and media management workflows
- Coordinate delivery of media to editors and post-production teams
- Troubleshoot technical issues with cameras, media, and accessories
- Assist camera operators and cinematographers on set when needed
- Maintain and organize production storage and workspace
- QC final videos before delivery and posting
- 1–3 years of production experience
- Technical proficiency/familiarity with professional camera systems (Sony, Canon, DJI, GoPro, RED, etc.) as well as with audio, lighting, and grip equipment
- Understanding of/experience with field DITing, media ingestion, post production workflows and servers
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills
- Ability to work independently and problem solve in fast-moving production environments
- Comfortable lifting and transporting gear cases
- Excellent, proactive communication skills and acute attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working specifically with Sony FX-series cameras & Sony lenses
- Experience working with CheqRoom or some type of equipment management software
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro and Media Encoder
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Technical experience/proficiency with Apple computers and iOS software
- Experience with/Eagerness to learn media offloading and archiving
- PA and/or AC experience
- Proficient in the outdoors and comfortable working in all weather conditions and in remote field environments
- Passion for storytelling, the outdoors, wildlife, hunting, fishing, cooking, and/or conservation
