We’re looking for an Estimator to work at Burke Headquarters and be part of our great team! This is an on-site role in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

We are seeking an Estimator to manage the preparation, completion, and submission of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and related bid documents. 


The Role

This role helps us deliver high-quality play and playground equipment to communities around the world by: 


  • Lead the full lifecycle of bids and proposals (RFPs, RFQs, ITBs) from qualification through submission and award 
  • Oversee pricing development, cost estimates, and margin optimization in collaboration with sales and finance 
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (sales, design, engineering, procurement, and legal) to produce high-quality proposals 
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards (ADA, ASTM, CPSC, local requirements) 
  • Complete bid forms, certifications, bid bonds, and compliance documentation (e.g prevailing wage, non-collusion affidavits, subcontractor listings)
  • Develop and refining proposal templates, content libraries, and standard processes      
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, general contractors, and public agencies during the bid process 
  • Lead post-bid reviews, including win/loss analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop accurate cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, freight, and subcontractor pricing 
  • Assist in contract review, scope clarification      
  • Complete bid forms, certifications, bid bonds, and compliance documentation (e.g prevailing wage, non-collusion affidavits, subcontractor listings)
  • Review bond requests submitted by Representatives and required for Burke Direct projects
  • Submit approved bond requests 
  • File issued bonds and update bond tracking spreadsheet
  • Maintain Bond Tracking spreadsheet to ensure all information is current and available for CFO
  • Enter orders for Burke Direct and National Accounts as needed
  • Provide all order documentation including profit reports when needed to Order Processing Department
  • Provide order related communication to internal and external customers in a timely matter
  • Maintain complete, accurate and organized order files 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications That Move Us!

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) 
  • 5+ years of experience in proposals, bidding, estimating, or related fields
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Need to demonstrate the ability to write clear, concise reports and analysis
  • Proficient computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Salesforce CRM
  • Strong math and analytical skills (costing, margins, percentages, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations with managers, customers, other employees, and the public
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
