Nursing Clinical Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized, student-focused professional to join our Graduate Nursing Clinical Operations team at our Online Campus in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.

The Nursing Clinical Operations Specialist (COS) plays an essential role in helping graduate nursing students successfully navigate the clinical practicum process. This position manages an assigned caseload of students from initial clinical planning through placement approval, serving as a primary resource for students while coordinating with preceptors, clinical sites, faculty, and internal departments.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who enjoys solving problems, managing multiple priorities, building relationships, and helping students navigate complex processes. This role requires someone who can work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team environment.

What You'll Do  

• Manage an assigned caseload of graduate nursing students throughout the clinical placement and practicum process.
• Educate students on clinical requirements, preceptor qualifications, placement expectations, documentation, deadlines, and approval processes. 
• Guide students in identifying appropriate preceptors and clinical sites that meet program and course requirements. 
• Review practicum submissions for completeness and coordinate the clinical approval process with program leadership. 
• Communicate directly with prospective and established preceptors and clinical sites to obtain required documentation and facilitate student placements. 
• Build and maintain relationships with clinical partners and assist with developing new placement opportunities for students. 
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student placement status, outreach efforts, approvals, and outstanding requirements. 
• Monitor upcoming clinical cohorts and proactively identify students who may need additional placement assistance. 
• Serve as a liaison between students, preceptors, clinical sites, faculty, Program Coordinators, Student Success Advisors, Compliance, and Clinical Operations leadership. 
• Assist students in resolving placement barriers and escalate complex situations when appropriate. 
• Utilize multiple academic and clinical management systems to track student progress, clinical placements, and documentation. 
• Educate students and preceptors on applicable clinical systems and processes as needed. 
• Collaborate with the Clinical Compliance team to ensure students meet applicable clinical site and program requirements prior to beginning rotations. 
• Participate in forecasting, reporting, audits, accreditation activities, and other initiatives related to clinical operations. 
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, student resources, communication, and the overall clinical placement experience. 
• Support departmental projects, policy implementation, and process improvements as assigned by Clinical Operations and School of Nursing leadership. 

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred. 

Experience

• Experience in healthcare, higher education, clinical education, student services, healthcare administration, or a related environment preferred. 
• Experience coordinating multiple cases, projects, clients, students, or accounts simultaneously is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams. 
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
