NDT Technician II
Description

RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!

As our NDT Technician, you are the guardian of structural integrity. You are tasked with "seeing the invisible"—using advanced methods like Fluorescent Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) testing to detect microscopic defects, corrosion, or cracks that others might miss. Working within our high-precision NDT cell, you will independently perform inspections, interpret complex indications, and ensure every part meets the rigorous safety standards required for aerospace and defense. If you have an eagle eye for detail, a passion for quality science, and want to be the final line of defense for flight safety, we want you on our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspection Execution: Perform NDT inspections utilizing Magnetic Particle (MT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT) techniques to identify surface and near-surface discontinuities in accordance with specific written criteria.
  • Interpretation & Reporting: Analyze and interpret test results to determine if indications are acceptable or rejectable based on aerospace specifications. You will meticulously document and report results per company and customer requirements.
  • Equipment Calibration: Assist with the setup, help calibrate, and maintain NDT equipment to ensure all testing remains accurate and compliant with industry standards.
  • NADCAP & Compliance Support: Actively participate in maintaining our NADCAP NDT certification. You will ensure all documentation, chemical handling, and testing processes strictly adhere to aerospace-grade quality standards.
  • Technical Communication: Effectively communicate processes, procedures, and inspection results to internal teams and customers, ensuring a clear understanding of part health.
  • Continuous Learning: Work under the direction of Level 2 or Level 3 leadership to continuously develop your skills and work toward higher levels of NDT certification.
Requirements
  • Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
  • ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Basic knowledge of NDT or manufacturing processes is desired. Previous experience in mechanical inspection is a significant plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong aptitude for basic math and science principles and the ability to read technical specifications.
  • Safety: Ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner and a commitment to maintaining a secure, healthy work environment.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and stand constantly. Will handle and finger components constantly. Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.
