ABOUT THIS ROLE:

As the Assistant Store Manager you will assist the Store Manager in the daily store duties. To oversee the department(s) assigned by the store manager. To maintain a positive environment for our guests/donors and a fun and productive place for our volunteers and staff to work. St. Matthew’s House is faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Store Manager in planning and implementing strategies
  • Coordinate daily guest/donor service operations
  • Track the progress of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual objectives
  • Evaluate employee performance and identify hiring and training needs
  • Supervise and motivate staff to perform their best
  • Coach and support new and existing team members
  • Monitor operating costs, budgets and resources
  • Suggest training programs and techniques
  • Communicate with guests/donors and evaluate their needs
  • Handle complaints from guest/donors
  • Create reports, analyze and interpret data
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure the highest level of service
  • Make sure all employees adhere to company’s policies and core values
  • Act as St. Matthew's House representative and set an example for our staff.
Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent

Experience:

  • Sales Background Preferred
  • Customer management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Visual Merchandise and above average problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to organize work with flexibility to accommodate frequent interruptions and changes
  • Must have regular attendance on the job
  • MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills required

Physical Demands

  • Sitting, stretching, stooping, bending, standing and walking
  • Occasionally provides assistance in lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment

Travel

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
