GEO Foundation/GEO Academies is a non-profit organization that has been making access to quality schools a reality for children since 1998. GEO currently supports over 3600 students in independent public schools in Indiana and Louisiana with a unique K-14 model that accelerates at-risk students into college and careers while still in high school.

Facilities Manager
This is a 12-Month position
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Primary Responsibilities (90%)
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the employee is responsible for providing hands-on repair, maintenance, and upkeep of school facilities, both interior and exterior, to ensure all campuses are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Routine Inspections and Preventative Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of school buildings and grounds to identify issues such as leaks, electrical concerns, or structural damage.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
Repairs and General Maintenance
- Perform general repairs and maintenance of facilities, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Address maintenance issues that do not require outside vendors, utilizing “do-it-yourself” repair skills common in a school setting.
- Paint interior and exterior surfaces, including classrooms, hallways, and playground structures, as needed.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety and health regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. This includes performing authorized lockout/tagout procedures to ensure equipment is in a zero-energy state before servicing, repairing, or cleaning.
- Verify equipment isolation to prevent unexpected startup or release of stored energy.
- Monitor the condition of fire extinguishers, emergency exit signs, and other safety equipment on a regular basis.
- Report safety hazards, deficiencies, and repair needs promptly to the Facilities Manager.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with the Facilities Manager and provide updates on maintenance needs and deficiencies.
- Coordinate effectively with school staff and external vendors (e.g., food service, HVAC, custodial, landscaping) to support facility operations.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Respond to emergencies as needed, including after-hours or weekend support to minimize disruption to school operations.
Technical Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to working in a mission-driven organization focused on supporting children and families
- Strong “do-it-yourself” (DIY) repair skills applicable to a school environment
- Knowledge of building maintenance, materials, hardware, and equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
- Ability to inspect, analyze, and determine appropriate repair and maintenance solutions
- Strong communication, language, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under the direction of the Facilities Manager
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing needs
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- Commitment to workplace safety, including following safety protocols, using appropriate equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions
Experience
- One to three years of experience in a construction-related trade or maintenance of commercial facilities.
Education and Training
- Professional certification in a related field or equivalent work experience in a relevant trade.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license required
- Must successfully pass all applicable background checks
