Location: 100% Remote

Compensation: $20.00/hr.

Hours: Part-time (29 hours or less) or Full-time (30-40 hours)
Career Track: This position aligns with the Associate Software Engineer role and provides a pathway to full-time employment.


System Automation is excited to launch our 2026 Summer Internship Program, designed to provide hands-on experience building modern software within our Evoke platform. This program offers students the opportunity to work directly alongside experienced software engineers, contributing to real product development efforts that impact customers across the country.


Interns will gain exposure to modern technologies and development approaches, including cloud-native architecture on Azure, low-code platform design, and emerging AI tools shaping the future of software development. Through a structured program that combines guided training with experience-based learning, interns will contribute to building both prototype solutions and production-ready features within the platform.


This program is designed to accelerate technical growth while providing meaningful, real-world experience in a collaborative engineering environment.


We will consider qualified candidates for fully remote work (must reside in the U.S. only).


About the Role:

The Software Engineering Intern will be embedded within the Evoke product engineering team, contributing to real platform development initiatives while learning modern software development practices. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle, including feature development, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment support.


Interns will work closely with engineers, product owners, and designers to build and enhance capabilities within the Evoke low-code SaaS platform. The program emphasizes practical experience with modern technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud-native architecture in Azure, and emerging AI-assisted development tools.


This is a structured, mentorship-driven program intended to accelerate technical growth while contributing meaningful value to the platform and customer solutions.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Contribute to real Evoke platform development efforts, including: 
    • UI components and frontend features (React/TypeScript) 
    • Backend logic and API integrations 
    • Low-code configuration and workflow design 
  • Support the development and enhancement of platform features, tools, or internal utilities 
  • Participate in team ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives 
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot bugs, test functionality, and validate solutions 
  • Assist in building proofs-of-concept or innovation projects (including AI-assisted tools and automation) 
  • Learn and apply modern development practices, including: 
    • Version control (Git) 
    • Code reviews 
    • Testing strategies 
    • Agile development workflows 
  • Document work and share learnings with peers and the broader team

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 
  • Completed at least 2 years of coursework (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience with at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python, Java, etc.) 
  • Prior internship or project experience is a plus but not required 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Foundational understanding of software development concepts (data structures, APIs, basic architecture) 
  • Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript preferred 
  • Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React is a plus 
  • Basic understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL) 
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn 
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and ask thoughtful questions 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment 
  • Interest in cloud technologies and modern SaaS platforms 
  • Curiosity around AI tools and how they can improve development workflows
