Job Title: Installation Tech II
Job Summary:
Wind Installation Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient installation, assembly, and commissioning support of wind turbine systems. This role progresses from entry-level (Tech I) to advanced technical leadership (Tech III), with increasing responsibility for complex installations, troubleshooting, and crew leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist with installation and assembly of wind turbine components, including towers, nacelles, blades, and internal systems
· Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic tasks in accordance with project specifications and safety standards
· Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
· Follow all safety procedures, including fall protection, LOTO, and confined space protocols
· Participate in pre-task planning, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and daily safety meetings
· Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
· Support site logistics, material handling, and inventory control
· Work in outdoor environments and at heights
· Perform installation tasks with minimal supervision
· Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
· Execute mechanical and electrical work (torqueing, bolting, cable routing, etc.)
· Troubleshoot minor installation issues
· Mentor and guide Technician I team member
Job Requirements:
· Valid Driver’s License
· Clean driving record with no major violations
· High school diploma or GED
· 2–5 years of wind, construction, or industrial experience
· Tech Essentials course completion from GE RELC with certification available.
· Tech II Check sheet completed and verified by GE.
· Demonstrated knowledge of turbine installation processes
· Ability to operate specialized tools and equipment
· Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
· OSHA 10 or 30
· GWO (Global Wind Organization) Basic Safety Training
· First Aid/CPR/AED
· NCCCO or other equipment certifications (for advanced levels
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
· Active construction site environments
· Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases
· Working in all weather conditions
· Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs
· May require overtime, nights, or weekends based on project needs
· Exposure to heavy equipment, cranes, and large turbine components
· Requires adherence to strict safety and PPE standards
