History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.  


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiology   procedures in accordance to clinicians' orders, exam protocols and   instructions. The technologist is to instruct the patient regarding procedures   to ensure cooperation and optimum test results. They are to assess and   interpret data on patients. They will identify patient requirements relative to their age-specific needs and   provide care as stipulated in the departmental policy. Radiology Technologist   are to follow prescribed safety standards in operating equipment, maintain   all equipment in appropriate operating condition and maintain examination   rooms and work areas keeping all necessary items stocked. They should monitor radiology procedures and exams and provide quality imaging. They will provide   all services needed for their patient while maintaining a positive patient relation atmosphere. The technologist should maintain accurate department records, reports and files as directed. They should also follow HIPAA regulations and   maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. As a member of the   Radiology care team, the technologist works collaboratively with the other   members of their department, clinicians and other department personnel to   assure the safe and accurate delivery of care. They will follow aseptic procedures and   precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially   infectious material. They will follow safety and infection control guidelines and policies established by the hospital. In addition, the technologist   performs a range of technical services in a cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs as assigned.      

Requirements

 

 Education:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Licenses/Certificates:
1. Licensed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, ARRT registration.
    2. Licensed by the Texas Medical Board, MRT registration.
    3. CPR certification for Health Care Providers. 

Experience:
    1. Experience a plus, basic knowledge of all radiologic equipment. Must be   proficient in all Xray studies.
    2. Effective oral and written communication skills.
    3. Experience in CT a plus, Willing to cross-train.   

Skills:
1. Ability to operate all Radiology   Equipment.
    2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task efficiently and effectively.
    3. Knowledge of policies and procedures including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, also sterile and infection   control guidelines.
    4. Knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures to avoid exposure to infectious materials or equipment.
    5. Organizes time and sets priorities to accomplish workload.
    6. Maintains an organized and clean work area to ensure general safety.
    7. Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain   competence.
    8. Annually completes all required in-service and training.
    9. Completes all required CE credits to maintain licensure.
    10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management and peers.
    11. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
    12. Excellent telephone skills.
    13. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area of imaging.
    14. The ability to communicate effectively in the English language, in person, by phone and in writing.
    15. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy, stressful or emergency situations.
    16. Excellent telephone skills.
