Description

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) is seeking a dynamic conductor to lead our 80+ member Conservatory Chorus. This is a unique opportunity to shape the artistic development of our students and cultivate a vibrant, collaborative ensemble. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mentorship and artistic leadership, focusing on developing a student’s musicianship and love of singing while building an inclusive, supportive environment based on the joy of collective music-making.  

 

Supervisor: Edwin Outwater, SFCM Music Director

Start - end date: August 31, 2026 - May 7, 2027

Objective: Direct SFCM’s Conservatory Chorus

Work hours: part-time, Fridays from 11-12:50pm for 14 weeks each semester (Fall: August 31-December 14, 2026; Spring: January 25-May 7, 2027)


Compensation: $4,258.80/semester (14 weeks)  

Requirements
  • Candidates should have completed an advanced degree in music or a related field, or hold ABD status with degree completion guaranteed by August 1, 2026. 
  • Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in professional singing and/or choral directing.
  • Candidates should have a strong portfolio and ongoing work in creative and/or scholarly activities.
