Position Summary:
Merchants Metals is looking for a PVC Router Operator / Material Handler to join our Des Moines team. This role combines machine operation with general warehouse responsibilities. You’ll work with our PVC Router to cut fencing components and support daily production by handling materials and fulfilling orders.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 1-2 years of CNC or router experience who also enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the PVC Router machine to fabricate PVC fencing components with precision and efficiency.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to set up and execute routing tasks.
• Configure machine settings, tooling, and materials for each production run.
• Perform quality checks on finished products and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain machine performance through routine checks and basic troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Collaborate with the production team to meet daily output goals.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Operate the PVC Router machine to cut and shape fencing materials
• Upload and run existing CNC programs based on job specifications
• Read and understand basic drawings, measurements, and work orders
• Pull materials, cut pipe, and assist with production when not running the machine
• Pick, pack, and move materials to support order fulfillment
• Perform basic quality checks to ensure accuracy of finished products
• Keep work area clean and follow all safety procedures

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience with CNC machines, routers, or similar equipment (program upload/editing helpful, not full programming)
• Ability to read measurements, specs, or simple blueprints
• Comfortable working both on machines and in a general warehouse role
• Forklift experience required
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay active throughout the shift
• Reliable, team-oriented mindset
