Position Overview:
The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for assisting in managing the lines assigned to the product manager. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering product and customer requirements, defining the product objectives, and working closely with the factories to deliver new products. The Assistant Product Manager also will be working with sales, marketing, and the factory to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Assistant Product Manager must be a subject matter expert on their products including competitors, technical requirements and market activity. The assistant product manager will support the product manager to ensure goals are met.
Responsibilities:
- Perform product line research and project management for market demand pricing and the competitive environment
- Utilize tools such as AllData to research OEM information and data for date range expansion opportunities
- Perform competitive cross references and keep cross reference tables up to date
- Become an expert with respect to the competition for assigned product lines and the subject matter expert for assigned products
- Contributes to the development of sales tools and collateral materials to support the product
- Recommend new product additions to product lines with supporting research
- Update Development Plan and report to PM and Director status updates on new product introduction
- Initiate the setup of new parts in Netsuite with the Catalog and Data Specialist and Supply Chain Department
- Help coordinate product launch; including technical support to marketing for promotional material and packaging requirements
- Interact with sales force and customers as necessary to accomplish responsibilities
- Analyze product line sales and develop relevant reports and analysis for management
- Recommend marketing actions to accelerate product sales
- Review slow movers recommending actions to improve sales and recommend products to phase out
- Support marketing with new product and now in stock announcements
- Assist in development of sales and profit goals for assigned product lines
- Assist the Product Management team in developing accurate and efficient SOP for the department.

Key Requirements:
- Experience: Automotive with 1-2+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or marketing
- Skills: Strong analytical and project management skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities required. Ability to train and influence cross-functional teams. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Google tools. Experience with product lifecycle management tools and automotive catalog systems (e.g., AllData) is a plus.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of automotive parts, manufacturing processes, and market dynamics. Familiarity with pricing strategies, competitive analysis, and product development lifecycle. Strong customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
- Technology: Must be proficient with basic computer functions including email, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and able to learn and navigate warehouse management or order tracking systems.
Physical Requirements:
This role primarily involves office work with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities and trade shows.
- Mobility: Ability to move between office, manufacturing, and event environments as needed.
- Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Standing and Walking: Occasional standing and walking during site visits and events.
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally (e.g., product samples, marketing materials).
- Vision and Hearing: Adequate visual and auditory acuity to review documents, participate in meetings, and communicate effectively.
- Work Environment: Exposure to typical office, manufacturing, and event settings including moderate noise levels and use of equipment.
