REPORTS TO: Paint & Blast Team Lead/Supervisor 


JOB SCOPE: The Industrial Painter is responsible for painting operations related to painting and finishing manufactured components and assemblies used in heavy equipment production. This role ensures that all painted parts meet company quality standards and production schedules.  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Operate and maintain paint booth equipment, spray guns, air systems, and related tools efficiently and through safe operating practices.  
  • Perform viscosity checks on paint coatings using approved measuring equipment to verify proper consistency and ensure optimal spray application, coverage, adhesion, and finish quality according to manufacturer and production specifications 
  • Prepare components and assemblies for paint application by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and priming surfaces.  
  • Apply industrial coatings, primers, and finishes using spray equipment. according to specifications and work instructions.  
  • Mix paints, catalysts, and coatings to proper ratios and maintain accurate documentation when required.  
  • Inspect surfaces and completed paint work for quality, consistency, coverage, and defects.  
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes and/or other material-handling equipment 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, paint specifications, and production schedules.  
  • Proficiently operate within companies MES system (EPICOR) to: 
  • Review and manage job orders and production schedule 
  • Accurately log time & completion of job tasks. 
  • Perform touch-up and rework as necessary to meet quality standards.  
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of paint areas, equipment, and materials.  
  • Assist with inventory and storage of paints, solvents, and supplies.  
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to paint quality, efficiency, and workflow. 
  • While this is primarily a paint position, employees are expected to assist in all areas of the department as needed, including blasting, prep work, material handling, staging, and general production support as directed by supervisor. 
Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


 Minimum prerequisite education, training, and/or experience required:  

  • High school diploma or GED preferred  
  • Highly Preferred Experience with the following: 
  • 3-5 years of industrial painting experience in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment preferred.  


Job Specific Capabilities:

  • Experience with industrial painting systems.  
  • Knowledge of surface preparation and paint application techniques.  
  • Ability to read measuring devices, work instructions, and blueprints.  
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, team members, and other departments to support production goals 
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
  • Demonstrates flexibility with work schedules and hours as needed to support production demands, overtime requirements, and departmental operations.
