Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager Job Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for owning manufacturing process capability, output performance, and the development of the manufacturing engineering function.
Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop the continuous improvement and manufacturing engineering team
- Own process capability, throughput, and production stability
- Partner closely with operations leadership to remove constraints and improve flow
- Establish and enforce standard work for critical manufacturing processes
- Lead structured problem-solving efforts on production and quality issues
- Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor supporting machining and assembly
- All other duties as assigned by management
Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes
- Deep knowledge of tooling, workholding, speeds & feeds
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a production environment
- Hands-on approach to problem solving and process improvement
- Strong communication skills across leadership and shop floor teams
Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or similar role
- 3+ years leading or mentoring engineers or technical teams
- Strong background in Lean manufacturing with demonstrated results
- Hands-on experience working directly with machining and production teams
- Experience in high-precision machining environments preferred
Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with required PPE including eye protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Ability to stand, walk, and lift materials as needed throughout the workday.
