We are seeking a 1st shift (7am to 3pm), Prepress Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for preparing customer artwork and files for high-quality print production, ensuring all materials meet specifications and are optimized for plating and press output. 


JOB DUTIES:

  • Reviews work in progress to determine plating priority, checks press schedule, communicates with incoming shift.
  • Preflight incoming files for errors, missing fonts, or other abnormalities.
  • Checks incoming files against job specs for color, size, and other order specifications.
  • Troubleshoots files that do not RIP correctly and correct if possible.
  • Builds impositions from layout.
  • Prepares final file for plate making.
  • Generates plotter proof from final file and checks against customer supplied proofs for exact match.
  • Records and files all customer supplied materials for inventory or return to client.
  • Provides secure storage of all customer supplied media.
  • Provides digital color proofs or plotters as needed.
  • Checks equipment operation for normal function and perform routine maintenance, or request service.
  • Prepares folders and other documentation to track and support the operation of the department or specific order.
  • Assists in training personnel on equipment and procedures used in electronic prepress.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements

JOB SKILLS:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Mac and Microsoft Windows) and technical troubleshooting ability


JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Thorough understanding of print production and prepress workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Enfocus PitStop, and Impostrip.
  • Knowledge of digital output systems, plate processing equipment, and color management


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Trade school or vocational training in digital composition, platemaking, graphic arts, or related field preferred
  • 2–3 years of prepress experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in stripping and/or conventional plate making preferred
  • Printing industry experience strongly preferred
  • Customer service experience is a plus

Salary Description
$28-$31/hour
