Position: Architectural Drafter II

Job Summary:
The Architectural Drafter [I/II/III] is responsible for supporting the design and development of architectural plans and construction documents for SC Swiderski’s residential and commercial projects. This role progresses from foundational drafting and modeling support (Level I) to independent production and coordination (Level II), to advanced technical leadership, mentoring, and design process optimization (Level III).
This position plays a key role in ensuring construction documents are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with SCS standards for quality, efficiency, and innovation.
As employees progress through Levels I, II & III, they assume greater technical proficiency, problem-solving capability, and leadership responsibility—ranging from completing assigned work orders to managing complex maintenance programs, mentoring staff, and supporting strategic maintenance initiatives across multiple properties
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Level II – Intermediate/Independent Drafter
The Architectural Drafter II role is the foundation of the Drafting Team in providing drafting services to the design team. They are efficient, reliable, consistent, and require minimal assistance once they’ve been tasked by their Architectural Design Supervisor. They know what they are doing and can be counted on to perform to expectations accurately and consistently,
- Produce complete construction documents, including drawings, schedules, and reports,
- Develop and maintain 3D BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD,
- Coordinate across disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP),
- Perform model reviews and quality checks for accuracy and compliance,
- Assist in managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously,
- Interpret and apply building codes, standards, and construction methods,
- Support BIM data management, visualization, and content creation,
- Contribute to development and improvement of drafting standards and SOPs,
- Perform design compliance inspections,
- Assist in training and mentoring Level I drafters,
- Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to improve efficiency and document quality,
- Support plan submissions, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews,
- Perform advanced calculations and documentation
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred,
- 3–5+ years of drafting/BIM experience required,
- 3–5+ years’ experience using Revit and AutoCAD,
- 1–2 years’ experience with multi-family or residential construction required,
- 1-2 years’ experience with wood frame construction is required,
- Strong understanding of building codes, materials, and construction methods,
- Ability to coordinate across disciplines and manage complex information,
- Advanced BIM modeling and documentation capabilities,
- Ability to work on multiple project, in parallel,
- Ability to perform quality control reviews and ensure compliance with standards.
Work Schedule:
- Typical schedule: 40–45 hours per week, Monday–Friday,
- Occasional additional hours may be required based on project needs,
- Ability to travel to job sites or other locations, independently, as needed,
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, with occasional visits to construction sites. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external consultants across multiple disciplines.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have a valid Class D driver’s license to work on our job/property sites,
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods,
- The ability to walk up and down stairs, and across uneven terrain, at job sites,
- Regularly lift up to 25 pounds,
- Ability to visit active construction sites, independently, as needed,
- Tolerance for outdoor work in all seasons and weather conditions.
