As a Cloud Architect, you will serve as the primary technical resource responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing AWS cloud environments across Non-Production, Pre-Production, and Production systems. This role combines hands-on cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, operational support, and strategic architecture planning. You will work closely with customer-facing Solution Architects and Cloud SMEs to support cloud migrations, maintain highly available infrastructure, improve observability, strengthen security posture, and drive operational excellence through automation and best practices. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize AWS environments across Non-Production, Pre-Production, and Production  
  • Serve as first responder for incidents during business hours and critical incidents 24/7 
  • Manage observability and alerting using AWS CloudWatch and Dynatrace 
  • Collaborate with customer Cloud SMEs and Solution Architects on architecture for new projects and migrations 
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure through IaC (Terraform and AWS CloudFormation) 
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, build, and deployment workflows 
  • Monitor cloud spend, identify cost optimization opportunities, and right-size resources 
  • Conduct security reviews of cloud configurations including IAM policies, security groups, and network ACLs 
  • Produce architecture diagrams, runbooks, and technical documentation for all deployments 
  • Participate in change management and release planning processes 
  • Mentor junior engineers on AWS best practices and cloud-native design patterns 
Requirements

What you will need to be successful in this role:  

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate minimum; Professional preferred) 
  • Deep working knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, EBS, EKS, CloudWatch, IAM, Kinesis, AmazonMQ, Transit Gateways, and Route 53 
  • Experience configuring security groups, NACLs, and coordinating firewall change requests with networking teams 
  • Proven ability to monitor costs, analyze usage patterns, and right-size infrastructure 
  • Proficiency with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation for provisioning and managing infrastructure 
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions) 
  • Fluency in PowerShell, Bash, Python, and SQL for scripting, automation, and data queries 
  • Ability to create clear architecture diagrams and technical documentation for new and existing deployments 
  • Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud architectures 
  • Familiarity with Well-Architected Framework reviews and remediation 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Security Specialty certification 
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, EKS/Kubernetes) 
  • Familiarity with service mesh, API gateway patterns, or event-driven architectures 
  • Experience with multi-account AWS Organizations and Control Tower 
  • Background in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, government) with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, FedRAMP) 
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution 

Pay Range = $38.46+ hourly

FLSA and Employment Status:  Non-Exempt; Full-Time
